Le Pain Quotidien

What he wanted was so simple: bread, hearty and wholesome, with a firm slice and a good crust. Alain Coumont learned about bread as a small child, standing on a chair every Sunday watching his grandmother bake bread. As a young chef in Brussels, Alain could not find the right bread for his restaurant. Passionate about quality, he returned to his roots and opened a small bakery where he could knead flour, salt and water into the rustic loaves of his childhood. He called his bakery “Le Pain Quotidien".

Feel Good Business

Sjakies (The Netherlands, Haarlem) is a feel good business with two ventures under one roof. The lunchroom offers slow food, the shop specializes in fair trade, and both are renown for great taste. We use biological products for our cakes and salads, we press the freshness smoothies. Even our coffees are okay. The same goes for the lifestyle and interior items in our shop: Organic beauty is combined with smart design. Nothing's wasted at Sjakies. And we only sell what we like: stuff with a little touch of retro and a big sense of humour.
