The Moooi shop

Dutch furniture design firm Moooi restyled their Amsterdam (The Netherlands) Gallery with dozens of entertaining and creative furniture designs. From lifestyle products to artistic objects, all within a much larger co-existing creative context. The collection exhibits a variety of exquisite taste from signature Moooi items in contrast with other beautiful historic pieces from around the world. The Moooi Gallery is becoming ‘the’ hot spot to choose your own interior and gifts with added value. A place to feel a part of, even if you do not live in The Netherlands. The Gallery wishes to achieve a position next to some of the most important design galleries in the world such as MOSS in New York, Rosanna Orlandi in Milan or The Design Republic in Shanghai.

Avenue Road showroom by Yabu Pushelberg

 

Established as a showcase for seductive, sophisticated furniture, AVENUE ROAD is one of Canada’s premier venues for classic and contemporary furniture designs. The Toronto-based company offers a wide range of furniture, lighting and textiles by legendary designers such as France’s Christophe Delcourt and British designer Eileen Grey.

The custom-designed Toronto showroom space is simple and symmetrical, providing a flawless backdrop for the brand’s worldly furniture collections. As if entering a modern art gallery, Yabu Pushelberg has superbly emphasized the natural light and the vertical nature of the space, which unfolds into a series of vignettes as one continues to walk through. Guests entering the luminous main gallery will find themselves amongst the works of Konstantin Grcic, Arco and Atelier Vierkant, each brilliantly displayed underneath the main skylight. The combination of lofted ceilings and streaming light provides the ideal setting for showcasing both the collections and the ultra-modern space. And the latter section of the showroom appears as a walkthrough window connecting to the director’s office and the glass-encased boardroom.

Vila Sofa

Vila Sofa, a furniture store that opened in Amsterdam (The Netherlands) in October is a clever design feat by Tjep. Vila Sofa is positioned somewhere between an IKEA store and a conventional furniture store and its claim to fame is reasonable prices and a guaranteed 48-hour delivery of all displayed models. The Amsterdam-based "Tjep" faced the challenge of making all this look cool. It zeroed in on the warehouse concept but with a homey twist. It focused on the aspects of speed and the transitional nature of the place where factory-born furniture lives while waiting to be taken to your home. Combining warehouse and home isn’t easy, but this was accomplished only by suggesting both. They used warehousing and transportation symbols as the basis for gigantic cutouts and wall graphics, and created a white wall with cutouts of chandeliers, windows and ornate balconies that imply a villa and refer to your home as your castle. Staff rides around in cute cash-register trolleys so that customers don’t need to go to them.
