10 Corso Como

10 Corso Como (Milan, Italy) is not a typical shopping gallery. It was opened in 1990 as an art gallery and bookstore by Carla Sozzani, a prominent Italian gallerist and former Italian Vogue editor. In 1991 the clothing and accessories boutique followed. In 1999 the Corso Como café and restaurant were launched and in 2003 a small slick hotel was set up.

10 Corso Como offers unique and stylish collections of clothes, bags, shoes, book, CDs...all in tune with the newest Vogue trends. The prices are high, but there is good news for budget visitors - there is a Corso Como Outlet nearby where the collections at reduced prices can be found.

Posada Books

In the heart of Brussels (Belgium), we find the bookstore Posada art books. According to the Guardian, the store was elected in 2008 as the 7th most beautiful bookstore in the world. More than 35 years ago the Dutch booksellers Martijn Oleff and his wife Ada Roorda founded Posada art books. Previously they worked in the art world in New York, the Netherlands and Spain. Their tireless energy, restlessness and love for books on the visual arts: applied arts, collections, art history, exhibition catalogues, monographs, reference books, journals for architecture, design and photography ... now fill the four floors of this store. Composed of a narrow front and back house, both connected with a covered patio, a unique space is created with the highest bookcase in the world. Staircases and galleries unveil room after room with a multitude of objects. Located in a dear old house near St Magdalen's church in Brussels, Posada Books is as famous for its pretty interior as it is for its collection of new and second-hand art books. Has a remarkable collection of exhibition catalogues, which goes back to the beginning of the last century, and holds occasional exhibitions too. Source: Posada Books

Retail Installation

The Richard Chai store was a temporary retail installation in 2010 created by Snarkitecture in collaboration with designer Richard Chai as part of the Building Fashion in downtown New York (US). Carved from the confines of an existing structure beneath the High Line, the installation envelops visitors within a glacial cavern excavated from a single material. White architectural foam is cut by hand to produce erosions and extensions of the sculpted walls and ceiling to create a varied landscape for the display of Richard Chai’s collection. The range of shelves, niches, hang bars and other moments embedded within the form encourage the designer’s curatorial eye for display. At the close of the temporary installation, the material was returned to the manufacturer and recycled into rigid foam insulation.

The Master Florentine Tailor

Antonio Liverano, a tailor with great experience and extraordinary skill turned his job faithful into a philosophy of life. Faith in the quality of his garments (all hand sewn), faith in elegance and style. The characteristic of Liverano is to regard to the imagination of the people as much as their body shapes. In his Workshop in Florence (Italy) you can still feel the flair of old school and long traditions. Day by day, the memory of the past is combined with daily pursuit, like diving the fabric into water before sewing. Taking individual measurements of his clients and cutting according to the master tailor's precepts, which have filled in Antonio Liverano's life.

Breitling's flagship store in NY

Breitling opened its new flagship store in NY (US) early 2011. The 800 m2 three-level store will showcase Breitling's entire collection of fine timepieces, including watches from the Breitling, and Breitling for Bentley lines as well as an assortment of special limited-edition models. Inside, it's all steel, wood and leather, and though Breitling makes a few lady sized watches, clearly the store is designed with its male customers in mind. There are plenty of allusions to the brand's aviation theme. Sexy pop-art canvases break up the wood paneled walls while case after case holds a dizzying array of watches. Selected models are highlighted in holographic vitrines, but if you think the displays are high tech, then you should get a load of the watches. The brand is doing nothing to change its reputation as a purveyor of flashy status, so if you think their product is a little gaudy, that's OK with them. Above the mezzanine, near a small case full of airplane festooned accessories, there's a stylish bar, so you can clear your mind as you decide which shiny new timepiece to take home.

Converse

The store’s design features speak directly to Converse’s distinct sport and rock ‘n roll heritage. Converse worked with New York based architecture firm Jennifer Carpenter Architect to preserve as much of the original details of the 110 year old building as possible. The single floor retail space is approximately 650 m2 using several reclaimed and natural elements to create a vintage inspired feel. From old gymnasium bleachers and recycled wood flooring to re-used Brooklyn factory parts and iconic New York City imagery, all in-store elements blend to create authentic design details.

Taking center stage of the space and the first of its kind is a 12 meter wall featuring an expansive Chuck Taylor All Star footwear collection. White tiled walls throughout the space pay homage to the New York City subway, creating a unique backdrop for the new denim collection, which features 24 styles for women and men.

Another key feature of the New York City (US) store experience will be Converse’s unique customization capabilities for both apparel and footwear available in-store. Converse customization will allow customers to select exclusive product including shoes, t-shirts and bags, along with graphics and colors, to create their very own masterpiece of personal expression. Customization Maestros will be on hand to provide one-on-one assistance with two state-of-the-art printers that will offer over 200 graphic options that will be updated monthly, with plans of inclusion of limited edition selections from collaborations with well-known artists. Customers will be able to create and leave the store with their creations same day with the final product presented in its own special package, taking customization to new heights touching an individual’s inner artist.
